It’s nice to meet you! I can’t wait to hear more about you and your journey as we get to know each other better. In the meantime, allow me to introduce myself and my journey.
My name Rosangela Villodas, but my friends call me Rosie. I was born in Brooklyn, NY. I’m the daughter of two “Miscellaneous Creatives” expressing their creativity in traditional and non-traditional ways. They served faithfully in churches around New York City as pastors, grassroots missionaries and local leaders. I unexpectedly found myself serving in similar capacities.
My Young Adult Years
As a young adult, I became a very determined business major and graduated with a marketing gig straight out of college. But it wasn’t enough for me. Feeling called to share with others God’s amazing story of restoration, redemption and love, I changed careers and became a Children’s Pastor, ministering in places like The Brooklyn Tabernacle, New Life Fellowship in Queens, and other parts of New York City.
My “Mom-ing” Years
During this time, I became a momma! Or Mami, as we say in Nuyorican culture (a person who is of Puerto Rican heritage living in NYC). I had my daughter and then 5 years later had my son. Becoming a mom must have been one of the most disillusioning experiences ever! It was not what I had expected at all. I found myself feeling ill equipped and feeling like a failure, almost all the time. This wasn’t a feeling I was used to. Especially being the marketing-minded career woman I thought I was “destined” to become.
I loved my children so very much. And yet, I couldn’t get past some of my biggest struggles as a mom. I felt like I wasn’t a good mom. What was worse, was I thought I was the only one. I felt alone. Nothing feels worse that being alone in your pain, struggles and sadness. It was hard.
My Hope for the Next Few Years
In starting this blog my hope is that, Love In The Details, will become two things:
- A safe place for moms to know they are not alone on their journey of motherhood. That they have me and whole sisterhood of mommas out there who are right on the journey with them.
- A place to get tools and resources to help moms uncover the love and beauty that can be found in the seemingly mundane details of our everyday lives.
You may find a bit of your story in mine. The details may be different but the premise is the same. We are all imperfect moms that LOVE our children. And for many of us we want our kids to grow into healthy, joy-filled adults who love Jesus. But we need each other.
It’s my hope that you will come back and find some things (practical & inspirational) to help you on your journey. It is also my hope that you would share your journey with us because you’re a great mom who has so much to offer other moms too. I promise you do!
Looking forward to hearing from you too!
